Oh dear snowmobiler’s!  You just missed a fabulous winter for snowmobiling!  But don't worry, there's more snow in store for next year!  Dunrovin is just 3 miles off several snowmobile trails one of them being the Blue Ox Trail, which runs all the way down to Leech Lake!  So if you are into snowmobiling, you've picked a great place to stay!

Buena Vista Ski Area is only 19 miles from Dunrovin.  They open Mid November through March.  They offer skiing, tubing, snowboarding & horse drawn sleigh rides!  Just an excellent place to spend a day for the skiing fanatic!

Golfing

Blackduck Golf Course offers golfers 9 holes of challenging golf.  The rolling, 2029 yard course provides a quiet, scenic surrounding to relax and enjoy your game.

Nature

There's no better place than "up north" to explore God's country!  There are many places to visit to enjoy the sites and sounds of nature. Below are just a couple of area nature attractions for you to enjoy.

The Chippewa National Forest provides numerous recreational opportunities, where the discovery of a Lady Slipper or the sighting of wildlife is a pleasant reward.  Wide varieties of birds, fish and other wildlife, along with many species of wild flowers, lure those who visit to come back time and time again.  The forest is home to the largest community of nesting Bald Eagles in the lower 48 states.

Big Bog Boardwalk, Visit the land of  ovoid islands, meat-eating plants, mounds of mosses, bog lemmings, and the great gray owl!  The Big Bog Boardwalk is your gateway to experiencing the unique environment of a patterned peatland, Minnesota's largest at over 500 square miles.  Known as the Red Lake Peatland, or the Big Bog, it's Minnesota's last true wilderness.  The Bog is wheelchair accessible.

The list of things to do goes on and on, we invite you to come and explore our great "up north!"

Fishing

Blackduck lake is best known for it's walleye and jumbo perch, however, I do have to say that the panfish have been known to be massive as well! The DNR states that "The lake has a reputation for producing trophy bluegills in excess of 10 inches." They also state that "Growth is exceptional, with bluegill averaging 7.4 inches by age four. Similar lakes in the Bemidji area average of 6.1 inches at age four." The DNR states that for the walleye "Growth rates are very good with walleye averaging 14 inches by age three, and 16 inches at age four. Anglers are generally happy with fairly consistent production of harvestable size walleye."  The walleye in Blackduck Lake is managed by the DNR with stocking every 3 out of 5 years.   Large mouth bass are not a fish that is heavily sought after on Blackduck, so they are another excellent large fish to catch because of the low pressure on them.  There are 25 lakes within 30 miles that also provide great opportunities for fishing, boating, waterskiing & tubing.

Hunting

There's an abundance of State land for all types of hunting, including deer, duck, goose, grouse and much more!  Don't just take our word for it, check out some of our pictures!

Ice Fishing

Ice fishing is a very popular activity on Blackduck Lake.  The DNR says "Blackduck Lake is one of the more popular fishing lakes in the Bemidji Fisheries Management area. Based on winter fish house counts, it is second only to Lake Bemidji in winter fishing activity."  One hot spot on the lake for the Jumbo Perch is straight out from our resort!
